Over 400 Employees in Hawaii
In recent years, SAIC has begun to focus attention on energy technology and energy efficiency program development. Joining 400 SAIC employees already working in Hawaii, a newly organized SAIC team will now manage the new Energy Efficiency Program for the State of Hawaii.
The New Program
Hawaii Energy Conservation and Efficiency Programs is a new program, operated by R. W. BECK under contract with the Hawaii Public Utilities Commission (HPUC) to provide energy efficiency services to Hawaii residents. This contract is the result of the Hawaii Legislature allowing HPUC to move efficiency programs from the electric utility to an independent third party administrator. Pursuant to this legislative action, HPUC awarded a competitively bid contract to Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) (parent of R. W. Beck) on March 3, 2009 to administer the State of Hawaii’s Energy Efficiency programs for Hawaii, Maui and Oahu counties starting July 1, 2009 under the program name “Hawaii Energy.” For more information please visit www.hawaiienergy.com
