Hawaii Energy moved to our new office downtown. Please stop by to our new office anytime between 7:30 AM and 4:30 PM to meet with us in person. We are in the process of developing an on-site educational center like we offer at conferences and expositions. We will let you know once up and running. Hawaii Energy partnered with local stores and began offering automatic rebates on CFLs. Check with your favorite local vendor for availability and to take advantage of this rebate on an inexpensive item that can save you $30 over the life of the bulb! The length of this program offering is to be determined.

Hawaii Energy attended the HECO Pacific Coast Electrical Association Conference and Exposition to market and educate commercial entities and trade allies of our offerings.

Hawaii Energy educated and assisted residents at the Personal Finance Expo at the Blaisdell. We demonstrated that energy efficiency and conservation can play an important role in improving one’s financial position.
July, 2009
Hawaii Energy educated and assisted residents at the Hawaii Powered! Event at Aloha Tower. This outdoor event was well attended by sustainability oriented organizations in Hawaii. It was our first event and we had attendees try our bike and hand crank demonstrations to show them physically how much easier it is to light a CFL compared to a incandescent light bulb.

July 1 was the official transition of rebate Programs from the utility to Hawaii Energy. The Hawaii Energy team began processing rebate applications, responding to inquiries and planning exciting new measures to augment the existing rebate program.

Pursuant to the legislative action allowing the HPUC to move the electric utilities’ energy efficiency services to an independent third party administrator, the HPUC awarded a competitively bid contract to SAIC on March 3, 2009 to take over the electric utility energy efficiency programs from HECO, MECO and HELCO on July 1, 2009.
