Pulling Together for Hawaii's Future

Where can we get rebate forms for the Program?

Program rebate forms and instructions are available for download from this website.  However, the Program will accept applications from the old utility rebate programs until supplies are exhausted or the rebates change.  In the future, we plan for this website to offer paperless on-line applications - stay tuned for this and other new changes.

Who do we call for solar hot water installation inspections? For chilled water systems and VFD's, who will our contact be for the business (commercial) rebate programs?

Call or e-mail the appropriate contact listed (business or residential program) on our Contacts page. A Program representative will be glad to answer your questions, schedule inspections or provide other needed assistance.

What time frame are we looking at for solar inspections and payment of rebates?

Barring unusual circumstances, inspections and payment of rebates for solar systems installed after July 1,2009 should normally occur within 30 - 45 days of completed installation.

When can we expect official guidelines or procedures to be issued so we can keep updated on changes to the programs?

Our website is to be the central resource for official guidelines and procedures for our programs.  We recommend joining our News Distribution List and checking our website to keep informed of any changes to our programs.  Feel free to contact us to give your input, ideas, or constructive feedback on program changes.

Who can I contact about ideas I have for saving energy in Hawaii?

Please send us your ideas at HawaiiEnergyideas@saic.com or see our contacts page. We welcome your creative ideas and constructive comments.

Who qualifies to participate in the Energy Efficiency Programs?

The electric utility ratepayers of HECO, HELCO and MECO on Big Island, Lanai, Maui, Molokai and Oahu qualify for participation in the Hawaii Energy Efficiency Programs.  These ratepayers contribute to the Public Benefits Fund (PBF) through fees on their electric bills. The members that receive their electricity from Kauai Island Utility Cooperative (KIUC) on Kauai do not participate in the Hawaii Energy Efficiency Program. KIUC has Energy Efficiency and Demand Side Management programs designed specifically for cooperative members. For information on Energy Services from KIUC call 808-246-8284 for Residential Programs, and 808-246-8275 for Commercial Programs.

Will Hawaii Energy be offering Federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) State Energy Program (SEP) rebates as shown on national TV and in local newspapers?

Hawaii Energy anticipates that we will be offering an ARRA-funded rebate program for ENERGY STAR® refrigerators this summer. Until then, we encourage you to take advantage of our great existing ENERGY STAR® rebates.
