You can increase natural light benefits to reduce electric lighting, through technologies such as:
- Ambient light level controls adjust lighting strength as day light in the space changes. The controls can turn electric lights on when ambient light falls below a predetermined level and dim or turn them off when less light is needed.
- Skylights and light tubes bring in natural light into rooms and spaces. Light tubes, also called pipes, capture sunlight from outdoors or a sunlit area and send that light into a darker area.
- Light-colored materials and paint reflect light and can brighten rooms, warehouses and other facilities.
These are especially useful for warehouses, factory or manufacturing floors, and big box stores.
